| 内容記述 | The 1550s was a period of great transition in western European international relations, during which the “Habsburg Empire” of Emperor Charles V was divided into two parts. This article examines the motives and strategies of Habsburg leaders behind this division of the empire and considers the attempt of Charles and his son Philip to enhance the defence of the Habsburg Netherlands through the latter’s marriage with Mary I of England in 1554. | |||||||||
