| 内容記述 | In 1879 Meiji government established the Japan music academy at the Ministry of Education. Mason, an American music instructor, came to Japan at the invitation of the government. As a result, the basis of music education of Japan was constructed. Mason who was engaged as the first music instructor in Japan, however, suddenly returned to his country in order to revise his book that had been published in America, but at that time the employment contract had not been concluded. In this manuscript, Mason's concern with the music education of Japan can be investigated by a study of Mason's letters addressed to Shuji Izawa, the chief of Japan music academy. | |||||||||||
