A questionnaire survey was conducted regarding the implementation status of LCI-point addition, deathbed care at facilities not using LCI-point addition, and the effects of deathbed care on facility management as well as satisfaction in the facility staff and families. The subjects were the facility directors of all 251 special nursing homes for the elderly（SNH）in Hyogo Prefecture, of which 249, excluding suspended or discontinued facilities, returned a total of 165 valid answers. LCI-point addition was implemented at 98 SNH, and deathbed care was also performed at 39 SNH not using LCI-point addition. Although deathbed care could help develop the facility staff, and satisfy the residents and families, it was regarded as managerially problematic irrespective of the implementation status of LCI-point addition. However, facilities using LCI-point addition intended to continue its use, and facilities not using LCI-point addition were also planning to use it in the future.
