Dyeability of acid dyes on the cationized cellulosic fibers with n-alkyldimethyl-3-chloro-2-hydroxypropylammonium chlorides having an alkyl group of different chain lengths was investigated. The cationization of cellulosic fiber resulted in realization of dyeing with acid dyes. In this study the cationized fibers having alkyl chain length of 1, 8 and 16 were dyed with the two model acid dyes of monosulfonic acid and disulfonic acid in equilibrium. Adsorption isotherms in dyeing of the cationized fibers of C1, C8 and C16 with the two acid dyes obeyed Langmuir relation, which suggested that dye anions combined with the cationic ammonium groups in the fiber stoichiometrically. The relative affinity of the model acid dyes for the cationized fibers of C1, C8 and C16 was evaluated and discussed on the dyeing mechanism. |
