Color discrimination of the colored letters against the ground colors on the printed matters of graphic design was studied in connection with color differences between the printed letters and the ground colors. Distribution of the ground colors against the printed letters of black and white in the commercial graphic-printed matters was investigated and then 472 sheets of the testing cards which consit of different color combinations of the letter from the ground were prepared in order to assess the discrimination of the printed letters against the ground colors. The color differences ΔE, ΔL and ΔC in CIELAB chromatic system were measured and numbers as a discriminable printed letter against the ground colors by the 15 observers in the respective testing cards were counted. The influences of color differences to numbers counted were discussed. |
