| 内容記述 | The usage of the auxiliary verb, 'desu' is not unified. This study examines how 'desu' is actually used. A questionnaire on how people use this auxiliary verb, 'desu' was given to 778 subjects who are from the age of 11 to 82. The result of this survey shows the following: (1) shushikei of some auxiliary verbs has begun to be used where only mizenkei was formerly used; (2) the 'desu' usage following adjectives has become almost established, but some impediments exist when it follows adjectives which indicate nature and situation in an objective way; (3) 'desu' is found after the auxiliary verb 'ta' when the expression is an adjectival clause, but not when the expression is verbal; (4) although 'desu' appears after particles, it rarely comes after kakujoshi. | |||||||||||
