Even though newly published analyses of Percy by several critics show the romantic elements or aspects already present in Barnwell?s earlier poems, we can still argue that, especially in the earlier phase of Branwell?s works, the pirate figure of Percy is quite removed from the romantic figure in Byron?s The Corsair.
