The human figure drawings of Nepalese school children living in Patan city were compared with those of Japanese children. The results showed that (1) the frequency of Nepalese female children after the age of 10 who began to draw the opposite sex figure to themselves, that is, male figure, was significantly higher than that of Japanese female children in the same age range, (2) Nepalese children did not have the higher tendency to draw a person at the upper or the lower places to a horizontal center line on the paper than Japanese Children, (3) the expression of drawings (especially the facial feature expression) of Nepalese children was more realistic than that of the drawings of Japanese children, (4) Nepalese male children did draw more accessories and the gender-specific clothes to express the sex differences than Japanese male children, (5) under the age of 10, Nepalese children scored higher on the drawings than Japanese children, (6) the size and the proportion of the head size to the whole body size of the Nepalese children's drawings were smaller than those of the Japanese children's drawings, in contrast, the proportion of the trunk size to the whole body size of the Nepalese children's drawings was larger than that of the Japanese children's drawings. |
