| 内容記述 | The siblings of persons with intellectual disabilities face various difficulties throughout their life time, which are significantly influenced by the dual burden of caring for both parents and persons with disabilities. This semi-structured interview study was designed to explore the types of social support required for this “double care” and the issues that follow. The survey results highlight the need to alleviate the burden associated with both forms of "double care," involving older adults and persons with disabilities, and eliminate the 65-year age threshold when it comes to care provided by older-adult siblings to older adults with intellectual disabilities. Many of the survey participants were confirmed to be directly or indirectly compelled to leave residential facilities offering disability services as they aged or required medical support. Moreover, men and women were found to be directly involved in the care of individuals with intellectual disabilities, suggesting a breakdown in traditional genderbased role divisions and indicating the continued influence of a strong sense of familial responsibility. Additionally, all survey participants expressed the need for continued access to the long-term care insurance system and support under the Act on Providing Comprehensive Support for the Daily Life and Life in Society of Persons with Disabilities. |
