This research has been done on the present situation of the graduates who qualified as sports trainers of the disabled. The purpose of this paper is to examine what Mukogawa Women's University should do to support qualified students and graduates. (1) One reason suggested as to why students tried to gain the sports trainer qualification was that they had been interested in the subject initially, and they subsequently experienced subject and programs offered at this university such as: Sports for Disabled People, and Practice Teaching for Special Education which kept them interested in the subject. (2) More than twenty percent of qualified graduates are now doing activities for the disabled, and assisting activities in schools for handicapped children. (3) In 2003, about seventy percent of qualified graduates has renewed their licenses as sports trainers for the disabled. About twenty percent of graduates is involved in relation to instruction of recreational sports classes in various institutions. Considering the issues mentioned above, it is important for both graduates and students to participate in sports for the handicapped as a part of their daily activities. It is also important to consider building up a system, which provides Mukogawa Women's University students with information necessary to support their activities as sports trainers of the disabled. |
