| 内容記述 | This paper examined a Japanese language teacher education program through a case-study analysis of descriptions of teaching practice over the past decade to identify chal-lenges and methods of improvement. The author has been involved in a Japanese language teacher education program at Mukogawa women?s university as a program coordinator and in a teaching practice program at language schools in Osaka and at a sister university in Korea. The program in this study experienced some restructuring for various reasons. The author analyzed these reasons by classifying them according to external and internal factors. The external factors were mostly influenced by curriculum restructuring; deference to the academic calendar; job-hunting trends; and nationwide risks including political issues, natural disas-ters, infections, etc. In order to continue teaching practice, program coordinators had to overcome these challenges. Observation revealed that the program has been restructured whenever it met with external obstacles from time to time. Internal factors, however, were hardly discussed. Internal factors included teachers? academic abilities, teaching skills, and their art of reflection. One of the ways to improve the program would be that trainees design their own program by themselves. The key would be to deploy the “readiness to learn” concept referred to by andragogy studies. | |||||||||||||
